Slough Borough Council is seeking a qualified and experienced Senior Social Worker to join our Connected Persons Team. This essential role is ideal for a motivated individual dedicated to supporting and assessing connected persons and kinship carers, providing them with the resources and guidance needed to create safe and stable environments for children.

About the Role

As a Senior Social Worker in the Connected Persons Team, you will manage complex cases, complete thorough assessments, and provide support for connected persons and kinship carers. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring that children can safely remain within their family networks, focusing on their well-being, stability, and best interests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments for connected persons and kinship carers to determine their suitability to care for children within their family network

  • Manage a complex caseload, providing ongoing support and guidance to kinship carers to ensure high standards of care

  • Collaborate with other professionals in care planning and risk assessment to secure positive outcomes for children

  • Attend court hearings and prepare detailed, evidence-based reports as required

  • Contribute to team development by sharing expertise, providing mentorship, and supporting less experienced team members

Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration

  • Significant experience in fostering, connected persons, or kinship care assessments

  • Strong knowledge of child safeguarding, kinship care legislation, and best practices in family support

  • Excellent assessment, communication, and case management skills

  • Ability to handle complex and high-stakes cases with empathy and professionalism
