Senior Social Worker – Children in Care Team | Leeds City Council | £35 per hour

Sheldon Phillips are currently working with Leeds City Council to recruit an experienced Senior Social Worker into their Children in Care Team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established service supporting children and young people in long-term care and care proceedings.

Role Overview

The role involves supporting children in care through long-term planning, permanency, pathway planning and safeguarding intervention. You will manage a varied caseload while working closely with foster carers, families and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing Children in Care cases from care proceedings through to permanence

  • Completing care planning and pathway planning for young people

  • Undertaking statutory visits and maintaining strong relationships with children

  • Working closely with foster carers, residential placements and partner agencies

  • Supporting court work and care proceedings where required

  • Completing assessments, reports and permanency planning

  • Supporting young people transitioning towards independence

  • Maintaining accurate and timely case recording

Requirements

  • SWE Registration

  • Social Work qualification

  • Experience within Children in Care services

  • Strong care planning and safeguarding experience

  • Court and permanence planning knowledge

  • Ability to manage complex cases effectively
