Senior Social Worker

Camden | Locum | £39.04 per hour | 36 Hours per Week | Hybrid Working

Camden Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join their Looked After Children Team. This is a rewarding role focused on improving outcomes for children in care through effective care planning, permanency planning, and relationship-based practice.

You will manage a complex caseload of Looked After Children, ensuring children receive the support, stability, and opportunities they need to achieve positive outcomes.

Working Pattern:

  • 36 hours per week
  • Hybrid working arrangement

In this role, you will:

  • Manage a caseload of Looked After Children
  • Undertake statutory visits and maintain regular contact with children and carers
  • Develop, implement, and review care plans and permanence plans
  • Support children through long-term fostering, reunification, Special Guardianship, and adoption planning where appropriate
  • Work closely with foster carers, residential providers, schools, health professionals, and partner agencies
  • Attend and contribute to Looked After Child Reviews and professional meetings
  • Progress care proceedings and permanence planning where required
  • Support and mentor less experienced Social Workers within the team
  • Prepare high-quality assessments, reports, and court documentation
  • Maintain accurate and timely case recordings

What You’ll Need:

  • Social Work England Registration
  • Social Work Qualification
  • At least 3 years’ post-qualified experience in children’s social care
  • Strong experience within a Looked After Children service
  • Knowledge of permanence planning and care planning processes
  • Experience working with children in care and their families
  • Court work experience desirable
  • Ability to support and guide colleagues within a team environment
  • Excellent assessment, analytical, and communication skills
