Senior Social Worker – Children’s Localities Team – Sutton

Location: London Borough of Sutton
Pay/Salary: Up to £39.04 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract: Locum

We are currently working with the London Borough of Sutton to recruit an experienced Senior Social Worker for their Children’s Localities Team within Children's Services.

This is a frontline role working with children and families who require ongoing statutory support and safeguarding intervention. As a Senior Social Worker, you’ll manage more complex cases, provide strong professional decision-making and help maintain high standards of practice across the team.

Duties

  • Managing a complex caseload of children and families.
  • Undertaking high-quality statutory assessments.
  • Managing Child in Need and Child Protection cases.
  • Undertaking Section 47 enquiries and safeguarding investigations.
  • Developing and reviewing effective plans for children and families.
  • Completing direct work with children, young people and parents.
  • Assessing and managing risk to ensure children are effectively safeguarded.
  • Preparing reports and maintaining high-quality case records.
  • Attending and contributing to Child Protection Conferences, core groups and other statutory meetings.
  • Working closely with partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Supporting and sharing good practice with less experienced Social Workers.
  • Ensuring work is progressed within statutory timescales.

What you need

  • Social Work Qualification.
  • Social Work England registration.
  • Enhanced DBS (provided by us).
  • Significant post-qualifying experience within Children’s Social Care.
  • Strong experience within Locality, Safeguarding, CIN or Child Protection teams.
  • Experience managing complex statutory cases.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant Children’s Social Care legislation and safeguarding procedures.
  • Confidence undertaking assessments, Section 47 enquiries and risk management.
  • Strong communication, assessment and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with children, families and multi-agency professionals.
