Senior Social Worker – Duty & Assessment
Stoke-on-Trent | Pay up to £33.30 per hour | Locum
We are seeking experienced and dedicated Senior Children and Families Social Workers to join the Duty and Assessment Teams at Stoke-on-Trent City Council.

About the Role:
You will be part of one of four dynamic Duty and Assessment Teams, delivering a high-quality assessment service to children and families in Stoke. Your responsibilities will include:
- Completing Child and Family Assessments
- Co-producing Initial Child in Need and Child Protection Plans with families and partner agencies
- Working collaboratively with the Supporting Families Service and community-based services
- Taking a restorative approach to safeguarding and building strong partnerships across agencies
- Coordinating multi-disciplinary interventions to ensure effective safeguarding and outcomes for children
Senior Role Responsibilities:
- Share knowledge and expertise to support and guide peers
- Mentor and support Newly Qualified Social Workers and Social Work Students
- Contribute to reflective practice and service improvement within the team
What You’ll Need:
- Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
- Significant post-qualified experience in Duty and Assessment, Child Protection, and Safeguarding
- Strong partnership working skills with families and agencies
- Ability to mentor, support, and guide less experienced colleagues
