Introduction

Islington Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Social Worker to join their Children in Need Team. This role is ideal for a practitioner who is confident in leading on complex cases, supporting colleagues, and delivering high-quality interventions to ensure the safety, stability, and wellbeing of children and families.

Key Responsibilities

• Holding a caseload of complex CIN, CP, and court-related work.
• Completing high-quality assessments, direct work, and risk analysis.
• Developing effective safety and support plans with families.
• Providing guidance and informal mentoring to less experienced colleagues.
• Working closely with multi-agency partners to safeguard children.
• Contributing to core groups, child protection conferences, and legal planning.
• Ensuring timely and accurate case recordings in line with statutory requirements.

Candidate Requirements

• SWE registration and eligibility to work in the UK.
• Strong safeguarding experience and confidence managing complex cases.
• Ability to lead on planning, decision-making, and professional curiosity.
• Excellent communication skills and robust multi-agency working knowledge.
• Commitment to child-centred, strengths-based practice.
