Our client, the London Borough of Enfield, is seeking Senior Social Workers to join their Looked After Children Team. Purpose of the Job: As a Senior Social Worker in the Looked After Children Team, you will undertake assessments and provide social work services to children and carers, ensuring the council’s statutory duties and powers under the legislation are met. You will work according to local government guidelines, utilising both group and independent resources effectively. This role involves participation in the duty team/rota, ensuring timely progression of cases, safeguarding vulnerable children, and incorporating up-to-date research in all interventions. You will also handle Care Proceedings and represent the Local Authority in Court, requiring extensive court experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessments and provide comprehensive social work services
  • Participate in duty team/rota, managing contacts, referrals, sec47 enquiries, and child and family assessments
  • Progress cases in a timely manner, ensuring the safeguarding of vulnerable children
  • Utilise current research to inform interventions and care plans
  • Undertake Care Proceedings and represent the Local Authority in Court
  • Maintain accurate and detailed case records
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, external agencies, and carers

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker with current SWE registration
  • Extensive experience in children's social work, specifically in looking after children
  • Strong assessment, planning, and organisational skills
  • Extensive court experience and ability to represent the Local Authority
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
