Senior Social Worker – Family Safeguarding

BCP Council is looking for a skilled Senior Social Worker to join their Family Safeguarding Team on a locum basis. With a generous rate and weekly accommodation allowance, this is a great opportunity for experienced practitioners looking for a well-supported team and meaningful work.
About the Role:
You will work within a multi-disciplinary team, supporting families to achieve better outcomes and reduce risk to children.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage complex caseloads and support team decision-making
- Complete assessments, child protection enquiries, and care planning
- Lead on conferences, legal planning, and court reports
- Offer guidance to less experienced staff where needed
- Apply Signs of Safety in all casework
- Build strong relationships with children and families
Practice Model:
BCP uses the Signs of Safety approach — a strength-based, collaborative model that puts families at the heart of safeguarding and promotes long-term change through meaningful engagement.
Requirements:
- Social Work England registration
- Experience in safeguarding or child protection
- Skilled in risk assessment and legal frameworks
- Confident in managing complex cases and reports
- Commitment to evidence-based, child-centred practice
