Barnet | Locum | £38.50 per hour | Hybrid Working
Barnet Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join their Assessment Team. This is a fast-paced frontline role focused on completing timely assessments, managing risk, and ensuring children and families receive the right support at the earliest stage.
You will manage complex cases while supporting less experienced colleagues and contributing to high-quality, relationship-based practice across the service.
In this role, you will:
- Undertake Child and Family Assessments
- Complete Section 17 and Section 47 enquiries
- Manage a complex caseload within an assessment setting
- Make timely decisions in line with statutory thresholds
- Work closely with multi-agency partners
- Provide guidance and support to less experienced Social Workers
- Prepare high-quality reports and maintain accurate case recordings
What You’ll Need:
- Social Work England Registration
- Social Work Qualification
- At least 3 years’ post-qualified experience in children’s social care
- Strong experience within Assessment or Duty teams
- Confidence managing complex and high-risk cases
- Ability to support and mentor others
- Excellent assessment, analytical, and communication skills
