Hampshire County Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join the Safeguarding – Family Help Team based in Havant. This is a locum opportunity paying up to £42/hr, where you’ll play a vital role in supporting children and families to achieve positive and sustainable outcomes.

About the Role

As a Senior Social Worker within the Family Help Team, you will:

  • Take a lead role in complex safeguarding cases, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children.

  • Undertake child protection investigations, assessments, and planning.

  • Support families with a focus on early intervention and prevention, working collaboratively with multi-agency partners.

  • Provide guidance and support to junior team members and act as a point of escalation for challenging cases.

  • Deliver high-quality written reports, ensuring compliance with statutory duties and best practice standards.

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Social Worker (Degree in Social Work or equivalent).

  • Registration with Social Work England (SWE).

  • Strong safeguarding and child protection experience, ideally within Family Help or similar teams.

  • Confident decision-making and assessment skills.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment.

  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
