About the Role
Wokingham Borough Council is seeking a skilled Senior Social Worker for their Referral & Assessment Team. You will work closely with families and professionals to assess needs and provide the necessary support to ensure children’s welfare is safeguarded. Adopting a relationship-based practice approach, you will ensure meaningful interactions and high-quality services for families.

Who We’re Looking For
We need a dynamic, flexible, and experienced social worker with strong interpersonal skills, a good understanding of children’s legislation, and knowledge of social work thresholds. You should thrive in a fast-paced environment, excel at multi-tasking, and demonstrate excellent recording skills. We value candidates with staying power in their employment history to ensure continuity in casework.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out comprehensive assessments and develop plans to meet the needs of children and families.
• Work in close partnership with families and other professionals to ensure appropriate support is identified and provided.
• Manage and maintain a caseload with efficiency, ensuring that children’s welfare is at the forefront of all decision-making.
• Support and mentor junior social workers, providing guidance and supervision where appropriate.
• Ensure high standards of record-keeping and case management in line with regulatory requirements.
• Participate in duty allocations and take on emergency cases as required.
