Role: Senior Social Worker

Team: Child Protection 

Pay: Up to £38.50 ph

Hybrid Working: 2 Days a Week

About the Role:
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Senior Social Worker to join our Child Protection Team in the London Borough of Havering. This role is a rewarding opportunity for a dedicated professional who is passionate about safeguarding children and supporting families. You will work closely with a team of social workers and other professionals to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children and young people in our community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of complex child protection cases, ensuring assessments, planning, and interventions are completed in a timely and effective manner.

  • Conduct thorough assessments of children and families to identify risks and strengths, and create tailored support plans.

  • Work collaboratively with families, agencies, and professionals to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, including direct work with children and young people.

  • Prepare for and attend court proceedings, presenting evidence and supporting cases as necessary.

  • Supervise and mentor less experienced social workers, providing guidance, support, and development to enhance team performance.

  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, local procedures, and best practices in child protection.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.

  • Significant post-qualifying experience in child protection and safeguarding.

  • Strong understanding of the relevant legislation, policies, and procedures within children’s social care.

  • Excellent communication, assessment, and decision-making skills, with the ability to work under pressure and manage a complex caseload.

  • A commitment to continuous professional development and a willingness to mentor others in their growth.
