About the Role
The London Borough of Tower Hamlets is seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Social Worker to join our Family Support and Protection Team within the Child Protection division. In this long-term role, you will be responsible for providing critical support to children and families, ensuring their safety and well-being through responsive, high-quality social work. You will manage complex Child in Need and child protection cases, including those that involve care and private law proceedings, with a strong focus on family engagement and achieving positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:

Respond to requests for assistance, gathering comprehensive information to assess the level of risk and type of support required.

Complete needs and risk assessments, working closely with specialists and agencies to ensure collaborative support and input.

Maintain accurate, up-to-date case records with detailed information and analysis, adhering to national and local policies and statutory timelines.

Develop and implement care plans that are tailored to each child’s needs, goals, and desired outcomes, with a focus on achieving meaningful change.

Engage respectfully and collaboratively with children, young people, and their families, ensuring their views and participation are central to all decision-making processes.

Chair and participate in reviews, case conferences, and professional meetings; provide high-quality reports and undertake court work as required.
About You
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Social Worker with a strong understanding of child protection, court proceedings, and family support. The ideal candidate will bring:

Qualifications: Degree in Social Work and active Social Work England registration.

Experience: Significant experience in Child in Need and child protection cases, including experience with care proceedings and private law proceedings.

Skills: Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with experience in case assessment, planning, and reporting.

Attributes: Ability to work collaboratively with service users and professionals; a respectful and inclusive approach to working with children and families.
