Social Work Assistant Team Manager – Mental Health – London

Location: London Borough of Richmond & Wandsworth – Twickenham Civic Centre
Pay/Salary: Up to £38.00 per hour (Umbrella)
Office Working: Hybrid
Contract: Locum | 36 hours per week

We are currently working with London Borough of Richmond & Wandsworth to find an experienced Social Work Assistant Team Manager for their Richmond Mental Health Social Care Team. This is an excellent opportunity to step into a leadership role within an Adults Mental Health service supporting adults aged 18–75 with clinical mental health diagnoses.

You'll support the Team Manager with the day-to-day management and leadership of the service, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centred and strengths-based practice. The role has no case holding responsibilities, allowing you to focus on supervising Social Workers and Social Care Assessors, managing Duty and providing management oversight of safeguarding work.

Duties

• Supporting the Team Manager with the operational management and leadership of the Mental Health Social Care Team.
• Providing regular supervision to Social Workers and Social Care Assessors.
• Acting as a Safeguarding Adults Manager (SAM) for Section 42 safeguarding enquiries.
• Managing and overseeing the team's Duty function on a rota basis.
• Providing professional direction and ensuring consistently high standards of social work practice.
• Supporting practitioners with complex decision-making, risk management and safeguarding.
• Promoting person-centred and strengths-based approaches across the service.
• Supporting continuous professional development and maintaining high practice standards across the team.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues and partner professionals to deliver effective support to adults with mental health needs.

What you need

• Social Work Qualification.
• Social Work England registration.
• Enhanced DBS (provided by us).
• Previous experience supervising Social Workers and/or Social Care Assessors.
• Experience managing or leading a Duty service.
• Experience acting as a Safeguarding Adults Manager for Section 42 enquiries.
• Strong Adults Mental Health and safeguarding knowledge.
• Ability to provide confident professional leadership and oversight to practitioners.
• Able to work from the office full-time for the first 4 weeks for induction, moving to approximately 40% office working thereafter.
