Our client, the London Borough of Lambeth, is seeking a skilled Qualified Social Work Team Manager to lead their Child Protection Team in Children's Services. This is a vital leadership role, offering the chance to manage and inspire a team of social workers while contributing to the protection and welfare of children in the borough.

Role Overview:

As the Team Manager of the Child Protection Team, you will take on a key leadership position, overseeing the work of social workers and ensuring that child protection cases are handled with the highest standards of care and compliance. You’ll provide expert guidance, lead team development, and ensure effective service delivery to protect vulnerable children and support families in need.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, and supervise a team of Qualified Social Workers within the Child Protection Team.

  • Oversee and quality-assure assessments, care plans, and interventions for children at risk.

  • Ensure that all cases are managed effectively in line with statutory requirements and best practice standards.

  • Provide coaching and professional development to social work staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency professionals, ensuring a joined-up approach to safeguarding.

  • Represent the team in child protection conferences and contribute to strategic service planning.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Social Work, with current registration with Social Work England.

  • Proven experience as a Team Manager or in a senior social work role, specifically within child protection.

  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment, prioritizing and managing team workloads.

  • A commitment to delivering positive outcomes for children and families.
