Thurrock Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Qualified Social Work Team Manager to lead their Looked After Children Team in children's services. About the Role:

As the Team Manager of the Looked After Children Team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that children and young people in care receive the highest standard of support. You will lead a team of committed social workers, providing guidance, supervision, and direction to ensure that each child’s needs are met, and that they have the opportunity to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Looked After Children Team, providing supervision, guidance, and support to social workers.
  • Oversee the assessment, planning, and delivery of services to children and young people in care.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, safeguarding policies, and best practice standards.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with children, families, and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team.

Requirements:

  • Qualified social worker with extensive experience in children's services, particularly in working with looked after children.
  • Social Work England registered.
  • Proven leadership and team management experience.
  • Strong understanding of legislation, policies, and best practices related to children's services and looked after children.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Commitment to achieving the best outcomes for children and young people in care.
