The London Borough of Havering is looking for a dynamic and experienced Social Worker Team Manager to lead their Referral and Assessment Team in children's services. About the Role:
As the Team Manager of the Referral and Assessment Team, you will be at the forefront of safeguarding children by leading a team responsible for the initial assessment of referrals. Your leadership will be vital in ensuring that the team responds swiftly and effectively to concerns about children's safety and well-being. You will manage the day-to-day operations, oversee case management, and ensure that high standards of practice are maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Referral and Assessment Team, providing supervision, guidance, and support to social workers.
- Oversee the assessment and management of referrals to ensure timely and effective interventions.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, safeguarding policies, and best practice standards.
- Work collaboratively with other teams, agencies, and professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to child protection.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team.
Requirements:
- Qualified social worker with significant experience in children's services, particularly in referral and assessment.
- Social Work England registered.
- Proven leadership and team management experience.
- Strong understanding of child protection legislation, policies, and best practices.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
