Suffolk (Leiston) | Locum | £35–£40 per hour (Umbrella) | Hybrid Working (3 Days Office-Based)
Suffolk County Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join the Coastal North Social Care Team, based at the Waterloo Centre in Leiston. This is a frontline children’s role working across Child in Need and Child Protection, offering the opportunity to manage meaningful work with families while being part of a supportive and established team.
In this role, you will complete high-quality social work assessments, chair and run Child in Need meetings, undertake Child Protection work, and prepare detailed Section 7 reports for court. You’ll work closely with children, families, and partner agencies to assess risk, plan interventions, and ensure children receive the right support at the right time.
What You’ll Need:
- Social Work England Registration
- Social Work Qualification
- Significant post-qualified experience in frontline children’s social work
- Experience completing Child in Need assessments and managing CIN plans
- Confidence undertaking Child Protection work and statutory interventions
- Experience writing Section 7 reports
- Strong assessment, analysis, and report-writing skills
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-agency environment
- Availability to attend the office 3 days per week
