Are you an experienced Social Worker passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people in care? Bexley Council is seeking a dedicated and motivated Social Worker to join its Looked After Children Service. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a stable and supportive team committed to delivering high-quality services to children and young people.
As a Social Worker within the Looked After Children Team, you will play a vital role in supporting children and young people who are subject to care orders, ensuring they receive the stability, support, and opportunities they need to thrive. You will build meaningful relationships with children, families, carers, and partner agencies to achieve positive and sustainable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
- Hold and manage a caseload of Looked After Children and young people.
- Undertake statutory visits and ensure care planning remains child-focused and outcome-driven.
- Develop and review care plans in line with legislation, policy, and best practice.
- Work closely with foster carers, residential providers, families, schools, and partner agencies.
- Prepare high-quality assessments, reports, and court documentation where required.
- Participate in statutory reviews and care planning meetings.
- Promote permanence planning, including reunification, long-term fostering, and adoption where appropriate.
- Support young people in preparing for independence and successful transitions into adulthood.
- Ensure children's voices are central to all assessments, plans, and interventions.
- Maintain accurate and timely case recordings and documentation.
Candidate Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker with a recognised Social Work qualification.
- Registered with Social Work England.
- Experience working within a Looked After Children, Children in Care, or Permanence Team.
- Sound knowledge of relevant childcare legislation, statutory guidance, and safeguarding procedures.
- Strong assessment, care planning, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to manage competing demands and prioritise workload effectively.
- Excellent communication and partnership-working abilities.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
