Doncaster Children's Services Trust is continuing to invest in its fostering services, providing a supportive and progressive environment where social workers can build meaningful relationships with foster carers and help achieve the best outcomes for children in care.
As part of the Trust's ongoing development, opportunities have arisen for experienced social workers to join the Fostering Service and play a key role in supporting foster families, promoting placement stability, and ensuring children receive safe, nurturing care.
About the Role
As a Qualified Social Worker within the Fostering Team, you'll work directly with foster carers, connected persons, and children in care to provide support, guidance, and professional oversight. You'll be responsible for supervising foster carers, undertaking assessments, and contributing to care planning to ensure children are placed in stable and supportive family environments.
Working collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies, you'll help strengthen fostering arrangements and support carers in meeting the complex needs of children and young people.
This role is ideal for a social worker with fostering, looked after children, or safeguarding experience who is passionate about achieving positive outcomes for children in care.
Key Responsibilities
• Supervise and support foster carers and connected persons carers.
• Undertake fostering assessments, annual reviews, and support visits.
• Contribute to care planning and permanency planning for children in care.
• Promote placement stability and support carers in managing challenges effectively.
• Prepare reports and assessments for fostering panels and statutory reviews.
• Work collaboratively with children, families, colleagues, and partner agencies.
• Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
• Contribute to service development and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements
• Social Work degree or equivalent qualification.
• Social Work England registration.
• Post-qualifying experience within children's social care.
• Experience within fostering, looked after children, safeguarding, or permanence services is desirable.
• Strong assessment, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multi-agency environment.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
