Pay Rate: £39.00 per hour + mileage
Location: Spindles Town Square, OL1 1TT
Working Pattern: Hybrid – minimum one office day per week 

Sheldon Phillips are working with Oldham Council to recruit a Social Worker for their Duty & Assessment Team. This is a key front-line service responsible for undertaking timely assessments and safeguarding children at the point of referral. The team offers a fast-paced but supportive environment, ideal for practitioners with strong assessment and decision-making skills.

What You Can Expect:

• Duty rota approximately every 4–5 weeks

• Hybrid working with flexibility around home-based tasks

• Supportive management team and structured supervision

• Office-based team day once per week

• Opportunity to develop skills across assessment, CIN, and child protection work

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Complete high-quality initial assessments during duty week

• Attend strategy meetings and lead Section 47 investigations

• Develop, implement and review Child in Need (CIN) plans

• Step up or progress cases to Initial Child Protection Conference (ICPCC), PLO, or court when required

• Work collaboratively with families and partner agencies to safeguard and promote children’s welfare

• Maintain clear, accurate, and timely case recording in line with statutory standards

Requirements:

• Social Work England registration

• Degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification

• Previous experience within a Duty & Assessment or Front Door service

• Strong safeguarding and analytical assessment skills

• PLO or court experience desirable but not essential

• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
