Social Worker - Assessment

Working Pattern: Hybrid – office and home-based working with duty week every 1 in 4


Sheldon Phillips are working with Nottingham City Council to recruit an experienced Qualified Social Worker to join their Assessment Team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive, well-structured service that focuses on ensuring children and families receive the right help at the right time.

What You Can Expect:

  • Supportive management structure with regular reflective supervision

  • Duty week every 1 in 4, ensuring a balanced and manageable workload

  • A strong focus on early intervention, relationship-based practice, and positive outcomes for families

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Undertake assessments of children and families referred to the service

  • Complete Section 47 enquiries and Child & Family Assessments

  • Develop, implement, and review Child in Need and Child Protection Plans

  • Work in partnership with families and multi-agency partners to reduce risk and promote wellbeing

  • Prepare and present reports for conferences, reviews, and court proceedings where required

  • Manage caseload effectively, ensuring timely and accurate recording of all work

Requirements:

  • SWE Registration

  • Recognised Social Work qualification (BA, MA, DipSW, CQSW)

  • Post-qualified experience in Assessment or Safeguarding Teams

  • Strong assessment, analytical, and decision-making skills

  • Excellent communication and partnership working abilities

  • Ability to manage a duty rota and work effectively under pressure
