Pay Rate: £32.00 – £37.50 per hour

Working Pattern: One duty week onsite every four weeks, with flexibility outside of duty weeks

Sheldon Phillips are working in partnership with Nottingham City Council to recruit an experienced Social Worker to join their established Duty and Assessment Team. This is a well-structured service with clear pathways, supportive management, and a balanced approach to duty and assessment work.

The role offers a predictable duty rota, with one full duty week onsite every four weeks, allowing for greater flexibility and autonomy during non-duty weeks. You will be based at Loxley House, working within a collaborative team environment focused on timely decision-making and strong frontline practice.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Undertaking duty work, including screening and responding to referrals

  • Completing Child and Family Assessments within statutory timescales

  • Carrying out Section 47 enquiries and attending strategy discussions

  • Completing home visits and direct work with children and families

  • Making clear, evidence-based recommendations to support safeguarding decisions

  • Working closely with partner agencies including police, health, and education

  • Preparing high-quality reports and maintaining accurate case recordings

  • Participating in supervision, team meetings, and reflective practice

Requirements:

  • Social Work qualification (Degree or equivalent)

  • SWE registration

  • Post-qualified experience within Children’s Services, ideally in Duty and Assessment

  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989

  • Experience completing Section 47 enquiries and assessments

  • Strong assessment, analytical, and decision-making skills

  • Ability to work confidently in a fast-paced duty environment
