Working pattern: Full-time 37 hours | Hybrid – 2 days per week office-based
Leicestershire County Council are looking for an experienced Level 3 Social Worker to join their busy Assessment Team based in Glenfield. This is a solid opportunity for someone who’s confident at the front door — able to assess risk quickly, make strong decisions, and progress cases safely and efficiently.
The team needs someone who can hit the ground running, with proven experience in front door assessment, Child Protection, and court work.
About the Role
You’ll be working in a fast-paced front-end service completing high-quality assessments and statutory work with children and families where safeguarding is a priority. You’ll be expected to manage competing priorities, complete timely visits, and produce clear analysis that supports effective planning and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities

Complete S17 Child & Family Assessments and S47 enquiries, using strong analysis to inform decision-making and planning.

Undertake front door / initial assessment work, responding to referrals, screening concerns, and progressing cases appropriately.

Manage Child Protection cases, including attending and contributing to ICPCs, Review Conferences, Core Groups, and multi-agency planning.

Undertake court work where required, producing high-quality statements, evidence, chronologies and care plans to meet legal timelines.

Complete statutory visits, direct work with children, and ensure the child’s voice is reflected consistently in assessment and planning.

Work closely with partner agencies such as Police, Health, Education and Early Help to share information and manage risk effectively.

Maintain accurate and timely case recording in line with statutory guidance, local procedures, and service expectations.
Practice Model
Leicestershire’s Assessment service focuses on timely intervention, strong threshold decisions, and getting children and families the right help at the right time. The team works collaboratively with partner agencies to respond to risk quickly, while keeping children’s safety, voice, and outcomes central to all practice.
Requirements

Social Work qualification (Degree/DipSW/CQSW)

Social Work England registration

Ideally Level 3 (or equivalent experience)

Recent experience in a Front Door / Assessment Team

Proven Child Protection experience (CIN/CP statutory duties)

Confident undertaking court work and managing legal processes

Able to work at pace and maintain high-quality assessments and recording
