Social Worker – Assessment Team

Pay Rate: £35 per hour

About the Role

Derbyshire County Council is seeking a dedicated Social Worker to join its Assessment Team.
You will be responsible for completing high-quality assessments, ensuring children and families receive timely, effective interventions that focus on safety, stability, and improved long-term outcomes.

This is a fast-paced but supportive service where you will work closely with families, schools, health services, and multi-agency partners to make informed, child-centred decisions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Complete Children Act assessments, including Section 17 and Section 47 enquiries.
  • Manage an assessment-focused caseload with clear, structured timescales.
  • Work collaboratively with health, education, police, and voluntary services.
  • Undertake direct work with children and young people.
  • Develop clear safety plans and recommendations based on risk and need.
  • Prepare high-quality reports for meetings, conferences, and court where required.
  • Maintain accurate, timely case records in line with statutory guidance.
