Southwark Council is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join its Assessment Team, working at the frontline of safeguarding to ensure children and families receive timely and effective interventions. Key Responsibilities
- Undertake initial assessments and Section 47 enquiries following referrals
- Make informed decisions on thresholds and next steps for intervention
- Develop clear safety plans and escalate cases appropriately to Child in Need or Child Protection pathways
- Work in close partnership with families, schools, health, and other agencies
- Produce high-quality reports for strategy meetings, conferences, and legal processes
Candidate Requirements
- Social Work England registration
- Experience in Assessment, Frontline, or Safeguarding teams
- Strong decision-making, risk analysis, and report-writing skills
- Ability to manage fast-paced caseloads and statutory timeframes
- Commitment to child-centred, strengths-based practice
