The Children's Advice and Duty Service (ChAD) is seeking a Consultant Social Worker, a pivotal figure within the team, to provide clinical guidance and lead on safeguarding matters. This telephone and consultation-based service is the first port of call for all safeguarding contacts and referrals, ensuring that the right service is delivered at the right place, at the first instance.

As a Consultant Social Worker, your role will encompass offering advice and consultation to partner professionals, signposting to appropriate alternative services, and managing social work and early help referrals. Your decision-making skills will be paramount, as you will be expected to progress Contacts and Referrals in accordance with the Continuum of Need and within the stipulated 24-hour decision timeframes.

The position requires robust communication and relationship-building skills, as collaboration with the Early Help Hub and MASH partners is essential. The successful candidate will also be expected to cover all aspects of the Consultant Social Worker's role within ChAD, including working out of hours to ensure a responsive service is available around the clock, every day of the year.

The team is comprised of Consultant Social Workers, ChAD Early Help Advisors, and ChAD Coordinators (business support), all working together to deliver a seamless service.

Candidates must be registered with Social Work England, and have substantial experience in safeguarding. A proven track record in effective decision-making and the ability to handle complex situations is essential.
