Social Worker – Children in Care
Havering Council | Pay up to £37.52 per hour | 36 hours per week | Locum
Havering Council are seeking an experienced Social Worker to join their Children in Care Team. This role focuses on providing high-quality support and care planning for children and young people in long-term placements, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met.
You’ll hold a manageable caseload of up to 18 children, allowing you to focus on meaningful, relationship-based work. The position is office-based three days per week, with flexibility for remote working on other days.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Managing a caseload of up to 18 children in care
- Completing care plans, court work, and permanency planning
- Undertaking direct work and life story work with children and young people
- Working collaboratively with foster carers, families, and multi-agency partners
- Ensuring that each child’s plan reflects their needs, wishes, and long-term goals
- Preparing high-quality reports and evidence for court proceedings
What You’ll Need:
- Social Work England Registration
- Social Work Qualification
- Minimum of 3 years’ post-qualified experience in children’s social care
- Experience in court work, care planning, and children in care services
- Strong communication, assessment, and report-writing skills
Working Arrangements:
- 36 hours per week
- 3 days per week in the office (hybrid working supported)
