Salary: £40,235 – £44,513 (includes market supplement)
Welcome Payment: £10,000 for experienced social workers
Relocation Support: Up to £10,000 available
Retention Bonus: Up to £4,000 after 12 months’ service

Herefordshire Council are looking for a dedicated and experienced Social Worker to join their Children in Care Team on a permanent basis. This is a brilliant opportunity to be part of a service that has seen substantial investment, stable leadership, and a clear commitment to improving practice.

As part of the Children in Care Team, you’ll work with children and young people from the point they enter care to ensure their experiences are safe, stable, and nurturing. The role involves managing care plans, undertaking statutory visits, preparing reports for court and LAC reviews, and working closely with multi-agency partners and carers to achieve permanence and positive outcomes.

The council’s model is built on relationship-based and strengths-focused practice, incorporating Signs of Safety and trauma-informed approaches. You’ll be part of a supportive team that prioritises meaningful supervision, learning and development, and manageable caseloads.

Requirements:

  • SWE Registered Social Worker
  • Previous experience working with looked after children
  • Solid understanding of permanence, safeguarding, and multi-agency working
  • Committed to high-quality direct work with children and young people
