Sheldon Phillips are working in partnership with Bury Council to recruit a Social Worker to join their Children with Disabilities Team on a locum basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for a practitioner who is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs and their families.

The CWD Team in Bury is well-established, well-resourced and benefits from clear leadership and a strong multi-agency ethos. With hybrid working (2 days at home per week) and £38 per hour, this is a flexible, rewarding opportunity for a skilled practitioner looking for a stable locum role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Hold a caseload of children with complex disabilities aged 0–18

  • Undertake statutory assessments, care planning, and reviews

  • Work in partnership with families, schools, health professionals and short break providers

  • Support children subject to Child in Need, Child Protection, and Looked After processes

  • Develop and review Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) where relevant

  • Provide transition planning into adult services where required

  • Ensure timely, clear recording and evidence-based decision-making

  • Promote inclusion, independence, and positive outcomes for children with additional needs


Requirements:

  • Social Work England (SWE) Registration

  • Recognised Social Work qualification

  • Post-qualified experience in Children’s Services (CWD experience desirable)

  • Good working knowledge of disability services, safeguarding, and multi-agency planning

  • A flexible, proactive and compassionate approach
