Position: Qualified Social Worker
Team: Emergency Duty Team (EDT)
Contract: Locum
Hours: 37 hours per week
Pay Rate: Up to £37.50 per hour
Location: Nottingham City Council
Working Pattern: Hybrid – primarily home-based with on-call/out-of-hours cover
Sheldon Phillips are working with Nottingham City Council to recruit an experienced Qualified Social Worker to join their Emergency Duty Team (EDT). This vital out-of-hours service provides emergency social work support to vulnerable children, young people, and adults during evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and resilient practitioner who can work autonomously, manage complex situations under pressure, and make sound safeguarding decisions in real time.
What You Can Expect:

Flexible hybrid working – primarily home-based with duty rota cover (approximately 1 week in 4)

Opportunity to develop expertise in crisis intervention and out-of-hours safeguarding

Close partnership working with police, health, and emergency services
Duties and Responsibilities:

Respond to emergency referrals involving children, families, and vulnerable adults

Undertake urgent risk assessments and implement immediate protective actions

Collaborate effectively with Police, Health, and other partner agencies

Provide professional advice to colleagues, partner agencies, and the public

Maintain accurate and timely records in line with statutory and council requirements

Participate in the EDT rota, covering evenings, weekends, and bank holidays
Requirements:

SWE Registration
-
Recognised Social Work qualification (BA, MA, DipSW, CQSW)
-
Significant post-qualified experience in frontline social work (Children’s or Adults’)
-
Strong assessment, crisis management, and decision-making skills
-
Excellent communication and multi-agency working abilities
-
Ability to work independently and effectively within a small team

Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

Enhanced DBS Check
