Social Worker – Safeguarding Children’s Team

Bolton Council is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join their Safeguarding Children’s Team on a full-time locum basis. With hybrid working, a supportive team environment, and free on-site parking, this is a solid opportunity for someone who can hit the ground running and manage the demands of frontline safeguarding work.

About the Role:
This role involves managing complex cases within a statutory Safeguarding Team, including Child Protection, Children in Need, and court work. You’ll be expected to respond to duty demands, carry out home visits across Bolton, and be based at the office when required.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of CIN and CP cases in line with statutory deadlines
  • Complete assessments, plans, and reports for meetings and court
  • Carry out home visits, attend strategy meetings, and undertake duty work
  • Liaise with partner agencies to promote child safety and wellbeing
  • Maintain accurate case recordings on the system
  • Attend court hearings and contribute to legal planning

Practice Model:
Bolton Council promotes a child-focused, relationship-based approach to safeguarding. Teams are supported by strong supervision, experienced management, and regular reflective practice, with an emphasis on working collaboratively with families and partners to reduce risk and achieve better outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Social Work England registration
  • Minimum of 3 years’ frontline experience in safeguarding
  • Confident working within statutory deadlines and court frameworks
  • Able to travel across Bolton and be office-based at short notice
  • Strong report writing and assessment skills
