Herefordshire Council are looking for a passionate and experienced Social Worker to join their Fostering and Kinship Team on a permanent basis. This is a key role in supporting the council’s commitment to increasing placement stability, improving outcomes for children, and ensuring that carers receive high-quality support and supervision.

In this post, you will work directly with foster carers and connected persons, undertaking assessments (Form F and SGO), delivering training, and providing ongoing supervision and support. You’ll also play a crucial role in the matching process, permanence planning, and ensuring that all statutory and regulatory requirements are met.

The team sits within a wider service that follows strengths-based, relationship-led practice, underpinned by Signs of Safety and trauma-informed principles. The fostering service has been on a journey of improvement, with a stable management structure and a focus on continuous development.

What’s on offer:

  • £10,000 welcome payment for experienced workers
  • Up to £10,000 relocation support
  • £4,000 retention bonus after 12 months’ service
  • 31 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Clear career development through Herefordshire’s Social Work Academy
  • A well-supported and well-connected fostering service

Requirements:

  • SWE Registered Social Worker
  • Direct experience in fostering, kinship, or permanence work
  • Skilled in assessments, supervision of carers, and report writing
  • Knowledge of fostering regulations and standards
