Social Worker – Referral and Assessment Team – London Borough of Greenwich

Are you an experienced and dedicated social worker looking for a short-term role in a borough renowned for its excellent practice? The London Borough of Greenwich, rated Outstanding by Ofsted, is seeking a Social Worker to join their Referral and Assessment Team. Role Details:

  • Pay Rate: £38.50 per hour
  • Working Model: Hybrid working (mix of on-site and remote)
  • Location: London Borough of Greenwich (on-site parking available)
  • Duration: Short-term contract

Key Responsibilities:
As part of the Referral and Assessment Team, you will:

  • Screen and Respond to Referrals: Handle new referrals promptly and assess their nature, urgency, and complexity.
  • Undertake Section 17 and Section 47 Assessments: Conduct thorough child and family assessments to evaluate needs, risks, and strengths.
  • Develop Safety Plans: Work collaboratively with families and partner agencies to implement plans that safeguard children and promote their welfare.
  • Undertake Direct Work with Children: Use age-appropriate tools to engage with children, ensuring their voice is central to the assessment process.
  • Work Within Statutory Timescales: Ensure that all work meets required deadlines and statutory requirements, maintaining high standards of practice.
  • Collaborate with Multi-Agency Teams: Partner with education, health, police, and voluntary organisations to deliver effective interventions and support.
  • Prepare High-Quality Reports: Write clear, evidence-based reports for case reviews, child protection conferences, and court proceedings if required.
  • Ensure Compliance: Work in line with statutory guidance, local policies, and best practice to achieve positive outcomes for children and families.
  • Maintain Accurate Records: Keep detailed and timely case records, ensuring accountability and transparency in your work.

Requirements:

  • Social Work England (SWE) registration is essential.
  • A minimum of 3 years post-qualifying experience (PQE) in children’s social work, with preferred experience in assessment.
  • Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, including the Children Act 1989.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and time-management skills.
