About the Role

Buckinghamshire Council is seeking a Qualified Social Worker to join their Help and Protection Team in Aylesbury. This is a frontline service where you will play a vital role in safeguarding children, reducing risk, and improving outcomes for vulnerable families. The team works closely with children and their support networks to deliver effective interventions that promote safety, resilience, and long-term well-being.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out assessments of children and families in need of support or protection.

  • Develop and implement tailored care plans that address risk and meet identified needs.

  • Work closely with families to promote positive change, resilience, and stability.

  • Collaborate with partner agencies including health, education, and police to ensure joined-up support.

  • Prepare clear, evidence-based reports for case conferences, reviews, and court when necessary.

  • Maintain accurate and timely case records in line with council policies and statutory requirements.

  • Undertake home visits and build meaningful relationships with children and families.


About You

We are looking for an experienced and committed Social Worker with:

  • Qualifications: Degree in Social Work and registration with Social Work England.

  • Experience: Previous experience within a children’s safeguarding, assessment, or help and protection team.

  • Skills: Strong assessment, planning, and organisational skills, with a focus on solution-based practice.

  • Attributes: Resilience, empathy, and the ability to engage with families in complex situations.
