Are you an experienced Children’s Social Worker looking for your next locum opportunity within a fast-paced and supportive Safeguarding Service? Lewisham Council is seeking a committed and motivated Social Worker to join their frontline safeguarding team, supporting vulnerable children and families across the borough.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a well-established local authority known for its diverse communities, strong leadership, and child-centred practice approach. You’ll be joining a service focused on delivering high-quality interventions and achieving positive outcomes for children through relationship-based social work.

The Safeguarding Service works closely with partner agencies to ensure children remain safe while supporting families through effective intervention and planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of children subject to Child Protection and Child in Need plans
• Undertake statutory visits, assessments, and risk analysis
• Complete court reports and care proceedings work where required
• Develop and implement outcome-focused care plans
• Work collaboratively with multi-agency professionals to safeguard children
• Ensure all recording and case management is completed to a high standard
• Maintain direct and meaningful engagement with children and families

Candidate Requirements

• Qualified Social Worker with a recognised Social Work qualification
• Registered with Social Work England
• Previous experience within Children’s Safeguarding teams
• Strong knowledge of UK safeguarding legislation and statutory frameworks
• Confident managing complex caseloads in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and assessment skills
