Qualified Social Worker – Children in Care – West Berkshire

Role:  Qualified Social Worker
Location:  West Berkshire
Team: Children in Care
Pay:  Up to £42 per hour
Contract:  Full Time Locum


Are you passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of Children in Care? Do you possess a deep understanding of children looked after legislation? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our dedicated team as a Children in Care Social Worker in the West Berkshire area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of children's needs and risks, in accordance with relevant legislation and guidelines.
  • Develop and implement care plans tailored to meet the individual needs of each child, in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams and key stakeholders.
  • Regularly review and monitor the progress of children in care, making adjustments to interventions and services as necessary.
  • Provide direct support and guidance to children and their families, promoting positive relationships and effective communication.
  • Act as a dedicated advocate for children in care, representing their interests in meetings, court proceedings, and other relevant forums.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all interactions, assessments, and interventions, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker with relevant professional registration (SWE).
  • Demonstrated experience working within children's services, with a focus on children in care.
  • Thorough understanding of children looked after legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and associated statutory guidance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, families, and partner agencies.
  • Strong assessment and analytical skills, with the ability to identify needs, risks, and protective factors.
  • Ability to manage a moderate caseload, prioritizing tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to professional standards and ethics.

They need a Qualified Social Worker that is ready to help vulnerable children and their families really succeed and affect change. There are lots of progression opportunities too, with regular panels in place for internal promotions. The Managers are there to help you achieve your goals as much as you are there to help them achieve theirs.

You will need to have at least completed an ASYE in Childrens Services and 3+ years experience to be eligible for this post in West Berkshire for a Qualified Social Worker.
