Sheldon Phillips are working in partnership with Oldham Council to recruit a Social Worker for their MASH Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a co-located, multi-agency service that provides fast, informed, and effective safeguarding responses to children and families in need.
The team works alongside professionals from Greater Manchester Police, Health, Adult Social Care, Community Safety, IDVA, and the Prevention Hub, creating a joined-up approach to early decision-making and intervention. The role focuses on Duty and Advice, working with contacts and referrals at the front door of Children’s Services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Respond to incoming contacts and referrals in a timely, efficient and thorough manner

Gather information from families, members of the public, and partner agencies
-
Assess and analyse risk to children using evidence-based decision making
-
Determine appropriate levels of intervention or support based on threshold criteria
-
Work collaboratively with professionals across the partnership to form clear recommendations
-
Document decisions, rationales and outcomes clearly and in line with statutory duties
-
Maintain accurate and timely case records

Adhere to Oldham’s practice standards and safeguarding procedures
Requirements:
-
Social Work England (SWE) Registration
-
Recognised Social Work qualification
-
Post-qualified experience in MASH, Assessment or Front Door services
-
Strong working knowledge of thresholds, safeguarding, and multi-agency responses
-
Excellent communication, analysis, and risk assessment skills
-
Ability to work at pace and under pressure in a high-volume team
