Qualified Social Worker – Mental Health – London
Location: Bromley Council – ADAPT East, Orpington
Pay/Salary: Up to £32.23 per hour (Umbrella)
Office Working: Minimum 4 days per week from the office
Contract: Locum | 36 hours per week
Start Date: 12 October 2026
We are currently working with Bromley Council to find an experienced Qualified Social Worker for their ADAPT East Mental Health Team. This is an excellent opportunity to join an established multidisciplinary community mental health service supporting adults with a range of mental health needs.
ADAPT East brings together Social Workers, Mental Health Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Psychology and medical professionals. You'll support residents with needs including affective disorders such as bipolar disorder, eating disorders, hoarding, anxiety and histories of trauma, working with people in their own homes and placements as well as supporting hospital discharge.
Duties
- Holding and care coordinating a manageable caseload of adults with mental health needs.
- Completing Care Act assessments, reviews and person-centred support planning.
- Undertaking carers assessments and ensuring carers receive appropriate support.
- Managing Adult Safeguarding concerns and completing statutory safeguarding work.
- Supporting residents within their own homes and community-based placements.
- Working with individuals experiencing complex mental health needs, including affective disorders, anxiety, eating disorders, hoarding and trauma.
- Supporting safe and effective hospital discharge where required.
- Participating in the team's Duty rota following an appropriate induction period.
- Working closely with Mental Health Nurses, OTs, Psychology, medical professionals and other partner services.
- Promoting independence and positive outcomes through strengths-based and person-centred social work.
What you need
- Social Work Qualification.
- Social Work England registration.
- Enhanced DBS (provided by us).
- Previous experience within an Adults Mental Health Team or similar community mental health setting.
- Strong knowledge and experience of the Care Act and Adult Safeguarding.
- Experience completing Care Act and carers assessments.
- Confidence managing a mental health caseload and working within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience acting as an Enquiry Officer (EO) and/or Safeguarding Adults Manager (SAM) would be highly desirable.
- Must be able to work from the Orpington office at least 4 days per week.
Free parking is available at the office, which is also served by several bus routes and is approximately a 20-minute walk from Orpington train station.
