Public Law Outline (PLO) and Court Social Worker

Location: Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole

Salary: £48 per hour, with an additional weekly travel allowance

Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Public Law Outline (PLO) and Court Social Worker. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting children and families involved in public law proceedings, ensuring their welfare and rights are safeguarded throughout the legal process.

Responsibilities:

  1. Case Management: Manage a caseload of public law cases, including those involving child protection, care proceedings, and adoption.
  2. Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of children and families to determine their needs, risks, and strengths.
  3. Collaboration: Work closely with legal professionals, including solicitors and barristers, to provide social work expertise and input into court proceedings.
  4. Reports: Prepare high-quality reports for court hearings, presenting evidence-based assessments and recommendations.
  5. Advocacy: Advocate for the best interests of children and families within the legal framework, ensuring their voices are heard and their rights are upheld.
  6. Support: Provide emotional support and practical assistance to children and families throughout the legal process, including signposting to relevant services and resources.
  7. Teamwork: Collaborate with colleagues within the social work team and multidisciplinary professionals to ensure coordinated and effective support for clients.
  8. Continuous Professional Development: Keep abreast of developments in social work practice, legislation, and policy, and engage in ongoing training and development activities.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker registered with the relevant regulatory body (e.g., Social Work England).
  • Significant experience working within child protection and public law proceedings, with a strong understanding of relevant legislation and statutory frameworks.
  • Excellent assessment and analytical skills, with the ability to gather and interpret complex information effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and concise reports for court hearings.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Commitment to upholding the rights and welfare of children and families, with a compassionate and empathetic approach to social work practice.
  • Flexibility to travel to various locations as required, with the availability to work occasional evenings or weekends to attend court hearings.
