Are you an experienced Social Worker passionate about improving outcomes for children with disabilities and complex additional needs? We are currently working with a highly supportive local authority seeking an experienced Social Worker to join their Children with Disabilities & Occupational Therapy Team on a locum basis.

This is an excellent opportunity to work in a specialist service that focuses on delivering high-quality assessments, tailored care planning, and multi-agency interventions to support children and young people with disabilities to thrive safely within their families and communities.

You’ll be joining a dedicated multidisciplinary team where Social Workers and Occupational Therapists work closely together to deliver holistic and impactful support to children and families.

The service promotes manageable caseloads, reflective supervision, and ongoing professional development, ensuring practitioners feel valued and supported in their roles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake assessments under the Children Act 1989 for children with disabilities and complex needs
  • Complete Child in Need, Child Protection, and Looked After Children processes where required
  • Develop and review outcome-focused care plans tailored to individual family needs
  • Work collaboratively with Occupational Therapists, health professionals, schools, and partner agencies
  • Carry out direct work with children and families to promote safeguarding and positive outcomes
  • Attend multi-agency meetings, reviews, and court proceedings where necessary
  • Support families with access to short breaks, specialist equipment, and community resources
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case recordings in line with statutory requirements

Requirements

  • Social Work England registration
  • Minimum of 2 years’ post-qualified experience within Children’s Services
  • Experience working within a Children with Disabilities team is highly desirable
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and statutory frameworks
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary setting
  • Full UK driving licence preferred
