Social Worker – Family Safeguarding Team

Rate: £39.00 per hour
Contract: Locum, Full-Time

Office: 2 days per week

Waltham Forest are bringing in a solid Social Worker to join their Family Safeguarding team. This isn’t about gimmicks or endless theory — it’s about good social work, strong relationships, and keeping families together where it’s safe to do so.

You’ll be working in a team that values direct work with families, and uses structured interventions to reduce risk and avoid unnecessary care proceedings. It’s busy, but well-managed, and they’re only after workers who can handle complex safeguarding cases with confidence.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a diverse caseload within CIN, CP and pre-proceedings
• Use the Family Safeguarding model to deliver structured interventions
• Complete holistic assessments under the Framework for Assessment
• Develop and implement Child in Need and Child Protection plans
• Liaise closely with in-house specialists and external agencies
• Attend ICPCs, Core Groups and Legal Planning Meetings as needed
• Keep clear, accurate and timely case records

What They’re Looking For

• Social Work England registration
• Strong post-qualified experience in safeguarding
• Familiarity with the Family Safeguarding model (training can be provided)
• Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team
• Confidence managing risk and working under pressure
