Sheldon Phillips is working in partnership with a proactive local authority in Somerset, who are looking for a passionate and experienced Qualified Social Worker to join their dynamic Child Protection team in Weston-super-Mare.

The Role

As a Social Worker in the Child Protection team, you’ll be:

  • Holding a caseload of children subject to child protection plans, CIN plans and legal proceedings

  • Undertaking robust assessments, including Section 47s and court reports

  • Delivering child-focused interventions that promote safety and stability

  • Working closely with multi-agency partners, carers and families to reduce risk and build resilience

  • Taking part in team meetings, supervision, and care planning discussions

This is a high-impact role with the chance to make a long-term difference for vulnerable children.

About You

You’ll need:

  • A recognised Social Work qualification

  • Social Work England registration

  • At least 2 years’ post-qualifying experience in Children’s Services

  • Strong experience in child protection, safeguarding and risk assessment

  • A completed ASYE and excellent knowledge of relevant legislation

  • A proactive, team-oriented mindset and a commitment to achieving the best outcomes for children
