The Opportunity
Sheldon Phillips is working with the London Borough Wandsworth Council to recruit an experienced Child Protection Social Worker to join the Children in Need (CIN) Team, based in Roehampton. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a borough that is investing in quality frontline practice and strong management support.
You will be responsible for holding a mixed caseload of Children in Need, Child Protection, and Public Law Outline (PLO) cases, with a clear focus on building relationships with families and supporting positive, sustainable change.
Wandsworth promotes a relationship-based, strengths-led model of social work, enabling practitioners to focus on effective direct work with children and families.
Key Duties

Manage a caseload of CIN, CP, and pre-proceedings cases.

Undertake Section 47 enquiries, assessments, and direct work with children and families.

Develop and review SMART care plans in line with statutory responsibilities.

Work in partnership with multi-agency professionals to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.

Prepare for and attend legal planning meetings, CP conferences, and court as required.
About You
-
Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.

At least 2 years of post-qualified experience in child protection or statutory children’s social care.

Confident working within a fast-paced environment with complex caseloads.

Skilled in managing risk, completing assessments, and using relational practice to engage families.

Available to start within 4 weeks.
