Social Worker – Children’s Safeguarding Service – Surrey County Council
Rate: Up to £42 per hour
Location: Surrey – Woking
Contract: Locum
Working Pattern: Hybrid (2 days in-office)
Sheldon Phillips is looking for an experienced Social Worker to join the Children’s Safeguarding Service at Surrey County Council on a locum basis. This role offers the opportunity to work with children and families experiencing complex safeguarding concerns, ensuring timely and effective interventions that promote safety, stability, and positive outcomes.
The Children’s Safeguarding Service provides a dynamic and supportive environment where social workers can make a real impact, working closely with multi-agency partners and applying evidence-based practice to protect and empower children.
Key Responsibilities:

Hold and manage a varied caseload of child protection and safeguarding cases.

Undertake in-depth assessments, develop SMART care plans, and lead review processes.

Work closely with children, families, and partner agencies to reduce risk and improve outcomes.

Prepare high-quality reports for conferences, reviews, and court proceedings.

Ensure compliance with legislation, statutory guidance, and local policies.
Requirements:

Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.

Proven experience in child protection and statutory safeguarding work.

Excellent risk assessment, planning, and partnership-working skills.

Enhanced DBS check and full right to work in the UK.
