Merton | Locum | £39.04 per hour | Hybrid Working
Merton Council is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join their Safeguarding Team. This is a frontline role focused on protecting children and supporting families through effective statutory interventions and relationship-based practice.
You will manage complex Child in Need and Child Protection cases, working closely with families and partner agencies to ensure children are safeguarded and receive the support they need to thrive.
In this role, you will:
- Manage a caseload of Child in Need and Child Protection cases
- Undertake comprehensive assessments and risk analysis
- Develop and review Child Protection and Child in Need plans
- Lead and participate in multi-agency safeguarding meetings
- Work directly with children and families to promote positive change
- Prepare high-quality reports and maintain accurate case recordings
- Contribute to permanency planning where required
What You’ll Need:
- Social Work England Registration
- Social Work Qualification
- At least 3 years’ post-qualified experience in children’s social care
- Strong experience within safeguarding teams (CIN/CP)
- Excellent assessment, analytical, and decision-making skills
- Ability to manage complex and high-risk cases effectively
