Luton | Locum | £38 per hour | Hybrid Working
Luton Borough Council is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join their Safeguarding Team. This is a frontline role focused on protecting children, managing risk, and supporting families through effective statutory interventions.
You will work with children subject to Child in Need and Child Protection plans, ensuring timely assessments, strong care planning, and positive outcomes through relationship-based practice.
In this role, you will:
- Manage a caseload of Child in Need and Child Protection cases
- Undertake assessments and risk analysis in line with statutory guidance
- Develop and review CIN and CP plans
- Lead and participate in multi-agency safeguarding meetings
- Work directly with children and families to promote positive change
- Prepare high-quality reports and maintain accurate case recordings
- Contribute to permanency planning where required
What You’ll Need:
- Social Work England Registration
- Social Work Qualification
- At least 3 years’ post-qualified experience in children’s social care
- Strong experience within safeguarding teams (CIN/CP)
- Confidence managing complex and high-risk cases
- Excellent assessment, analytical, and decision-making skills
