Are you a passionate and driven social worker looking to develop your experience in practice with disabled children and their families?

As a Social Worker in the Supporting Disabled Children Service, the successful candidates will work alongside colleagues across the service, including the Preparing for Adulthood Service, in-house providers of short breaks, health and education professionals, as well as a range of private and voluntary organisations. Together, they will create tailored packages of support for children and young people.

Guided by the Outstanding Practice Framework, the role ensures that families are placed at the centre of all work. The successful candidates will champion anti-racist and anti-oppressive practices, ensuring that services are equitable and transformative for children and families from all backgrounds.

About the Role

As a Social Worker in Wandsworth, the successful candidates will be responsible for delivering high-quality, responsive social work services to disabled children. This includes assessing the needs of children and delivering support services that promote their well-being, while working within a multi-agency framework to ensure the best outcomes for each child.

The ideal candidates will be highly motivated, using their excellent social work knowledge and skills to deliver services to disabled children, their families, and carers. They will have experience in Children’s Services, including child protection, and possess a clear understanding of all relevant legislation and guidance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess the needs of disabled children and deliver tailored support services.
  • Work within the Outstanding Practice Framework, placing families at the centre of the service.
  • Collaborate with multi-agency partners to develop bespoke support plans.
  • Promote anti-racist and anti-oppressive practices to ensure equitable services for families from all backgrounds.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • A Social Work qualification with Social Work England membership.
  • Completion of the ASYE Year.
  • Experience working across voluntary and statutory agencies with applied knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance.
  • A passion for working with disabled children and their families.
  • An innovative and creative approach to delivering services.
  • A commitment to promoting good practice and the shaping of lives for disabled children and their families.
