Introduction

Manchester City Council is looking for an experienced Supervising Social Worker to join their Kinship Team. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated social worker to support kinship carers in providing stable and nurturing homes for children.
 

About the Role

As a Supervising Social Worker in the Kinship Team, you will:

  • Provide supervision, guidance, and support to kinship carers
  • Conduct assessments and annual reviews of carers to ensure safe and effective placements
  • Offer training and development opportunities for kinship carers
  • Work collaboratively with children, families, and partner agencies
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and Fostering Regulations
  • Prepare and present reports for panel meetings and court proceedings where necessary
  • Manage a caseload while maintaining a focus on best outcomes for children
     

About You

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Social Work England registration
  • Experience working within a Kinship, Fostering, or Looked After Children team
  • Strong knowledge of kinship care legislation and best practices
  • Excellent assessment, report writing, and case management skills
  • The ability to build strong relationships with carers and children
