Introduction
Manchester City Council is looking for an experienced Supervising Social Worker to join their Kinship Team. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated social worker to support kinship carers in providing stable and nurturing homes for children.
About the Role
As a Supervising Social Worker in the Kinship Team, you will:
- Provide supervision, guidance, and support to kinship carers
- Conduct assessments and annual reviews of carers to ensure safe and effective placements
- Offer training and development opportunities for kinship carers
- Work collaboratively with children, families, and partner agencies
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and Fostering Regulations
- Prepare and present reports for panel meetings and court proceedings where necessary
- Manage a caseload while maintaining a focus on best outcomes for children
About You
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- Social Work England registration
- Experience working within a Kinship, Fostering, or Looked After Children team
- Strong knowledge of kinship care legislation and best practices
- Excellent assessment, report writing, and case management skills
- The ability to build strong relationships with carers and children
