Team Manager – Child Protection Conference Service – London

Location: London Borough of Lambeth
Pay/Salary: Up to £45.65 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract: Locum | 35 hours per week
Start Date: ASAP

We are currently working with the London Borough of Lambeth to recruit an experienced Team Manager for their Child Protection Conference Service within Children's Services.

This is specifically a Conference Service Team Manager position, rather than a Child Protection Chair role. You'll provide operational leadership and management to the Child Protection Conference Chairs, ensuring conferences are timely, effective and focused on achieving the best possible outcomes for children and families. 

Duties

  • Leading the day-to-day operation of Lambeth's Child Protection Conference Service.
  • Managing and supervising Child Protection Conference Chairs.
  • Ensuring Child Protection Conferences are coordinated and completed within statutory timescales.
  • Providing professional leadership on complex safeguarding practice, risk and decision-making.
  • Monitoring the quality of Social Work practice through information gathered by the Conference Service.
  • Providing regular supervision, performance management and professional development to staff.
  • Leading on quality assurance, audits, service-user feedback and practice improvement.
  • Identifying gaps or concerns in service provision and providing recommendations to senior management.
  • Monitoring team workloads, performance indicators and service standards.
  • Ensuring effective challenge where statutory duties or expected standards are not being met.
  • Working closely with Children's Social Care teams and partners across Health, Education, Police and the voluntary sector.
  • Producing management information and reports on the quality and effectiveness of Social Work practice.
  • Supporting the development of multi-agency safeguarding practice across Lambeth.
  • Providing professional Social Care expertise on complex practice, policy and procedural matters.
  • Supporting the service through ongoing development and transition into the MACPT.

What you need

  • Social Work Qualification.
  • Social Work England registration.
  • Enhanced DBS (provided by us).
  • Significant post-qualifying experience within Children's Social Care.
  • Previous Team Manager or significant supervisory experience within Children's Services.
  • Strong Child Protection and safeguarding experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of Children's Social Care legislation, statutory guidance and safeguarding procedures.
  • Experience managing or supervising experienced Social Work professionals.
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance and performance management.
  • Confidence providing professional challenge around the quality of Social Work practice.
  • Experience working collaboratively with multi-agency safeguarding partners.
  • Strong leadership, analytical and decision-making skills.
